First Aid + First Aid Response
Objective
To deliver PHECC ( Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council) approved First Aid and First Aid Response training, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide immediate and effective first aid in emergency situations.
Our course aims to empower individuals and organisations to respond confidently in medical incidents, potentially saving lives and promoting workplace safety.
Certifications: Upon successful completion of the First Aid and First aid Response course, participants will receive the following PHECC approved certifications:
PHECC First Aid Responder (FAR) Certificate: This certificate acknowledges that the participant has successfully completed the PHECC First Aid Responder course, demonstrating proficiency in accordance with PHECC guidelines.
PHECC Cardiac First Responder (CFR) Certificate: For participant who complete the additional Cardiac First Responder module, this certificate affirms their ability to provide essential care for cardiac emergencies.
Our First Aid and First Aid Response course, endorsed by PHECC, ensures participants receive high quality training that adheres to Irish standards for emergency care. Upon completion, participants will have the necessary certifications and skills to provide immediate and effective first aid in various emergency situations, contributing to a safer and more prepared community.
Course Content: Our PHECC approved First Aid and First Aid Response course covers a comprehensive range of topics to ensure participants are well prepared to respond effectively to various medical emergencies.
The course content includes:
Introduction to First Aid:
- The role of a first aider
- Legal and ethical considerations
- Infection control and hygiene
Patient Assessment
- Scene safety and assessment
- Primary and secondary patient assessments
- Identifying life threatening conditions
CPR and AED( Automated External Defibrillator)
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) techniques for adults, children and infants
- Proper use od AED
- Recognising cardiac arrest rhythms
Medical Emergencies
- Management of common medical emergencies ( e.g., heart attacks, strokes, diabetic emergencies)
- Allergic reactions and anaphylaxis
Trauma and Injury Management
- Bleeding control and wound care
- Fracture and dislocation management
- Burns and Scalds
- Head and spinal injuries
Environmental Injuries
- Hypothermia and hyperthermia
- Heat related illness
- Poisoning and exposure to hazardous substances
Child and Infant First Aid
- Special considerations and techniques for pediatric patients
- Recognising and responding to pediatric emergencies
Cardiac First Aid Responder(CFR) Module (optional)
- CPR and AED use specific to cardiac emergencies
- Recognition of heart attack and cardiac arrest.
